The 2016 Red Bull Culture Clash was full of non-stop surprises, but there was just one surprise that had every grime kid filled with feelings of uncontrollable excitement and nostalgia. That was the return of Ice Kid to the main stage. Members of the live audience as well as viewers at home had the same expressions on their faces as Chip did at that moment! His appearance was truly unexpected and greatly appreciated by all those who watched.
Some feared that this would be a one off and that Ice Kid might go back in to hiding, but thanks to a recent interview with The MOBO Awards, we now know that the return of Ice Kid is very real.
Ice Kid explains why he left the limelight the first time around
I never really felt comfortable being the centre of attention, it just ain’t my thing. If I could reach people through my music without the fame that would be an ideal situation. I just wasn’t ready for all of that and the timing was not right.
A lot of grime fans believed Ice Kid was the chosen one, and wondered why he had disappeared.
At the time I didn’t feel that I was capable of fulfilling people’s expectations.
It is great to hear from Ice Kid again and we are looking forward to the new music he’s promised to drop this year. He does sound a lot more focused and ready this time around. The future is bright for Ice kid, especially since he came to the realisation
You can’t run from destiny.
