Finch Fetti’s 4 recently discovered artists: Summer Banton, Majik, Fredwave & VG

UK producer and A&R Finch Fetti lists 4 recently discovered artists whom he’d like to hear more from. This week (Wk16) the spotlight is on:

Summer Banton, Majik, Fredwave & VG

 [1] Summer Banton (UK)

Ideal for Fans of: Mis-Teeq & Mahalia

Description: Summer Banton has an upbeat R&B sound that blends elements of British Pop music and has a range of influences from Reggae to UK Garage. Her song ‘Go Away’ is a perfect  summer vibe, which displays her amazing melodic range and effortlessly sings the contagious chorus in her sharp but silky british singing tone. Her lyrical content is bold, brash and matches the energy/attitude you would get from an authentic London based artist.

Favourite Release: Summer Banton – Go Away

Latest Release: Summer Banton – Pretty Face

[2] Majik (UK)

Ideal for Fans of: Lil Durk & M Huncho

Description: The song ‘Company’ by Majik caught my attention as it sounded very polished and well put together in comparison to a lot of the music that is coming out of the UK Trap wave scene. His tone is perfect for this sound as it is sharp and cuts through and his lyrical content and heartfelt wordplay is strong and perfectly matches the essence of the melodic emotional trap instrumental very well. This is definitely one of those songs for the late night drive playlist and has all the elements of a street anthem.

Favourite Release: Majik – Frontline

Latest Release: Majik – Company

[3] Fredwave (UK)

Ideal for Fans of: Sampha & Abra

Description: Fredwave has a very obscure and interesting R&B sound that seems to blend more with trippy Electronic music and some elements of Jazz. Fredwave has a raspy and smooth singing tone that feels like it is used and sung around the instrumentals to create a smooth listening experience for people. As mentioned above, Fredwave’s music does have an induced trippy and raw aesthetic feel to it and is something you can notice in his song ‘Shovel’, where the production is off the wall and Fredwave’s singing brings it all together

Favourite Release: Fredwave – Shovel

Latest Release: Fredwave – Shovel

[4] VG (UK)

Ideal for Fans of: Fizzler & Central Cee

Description: VG has a modern UK Drill sound that is catchy and has fun and youthful energy to the sound. He raps confidently and authentically in a way that would connect to a wider audience. His song ‘Explode’ perfectly displays these characteristics in his music and the appeal his personality could have on a mainstream level. This is definitely one of those songs you could hear being played across schools and colleges across the UK and being an anthem for the younger generation of UK Drill fans.

Favourite Release: VG – Explode

Latest Release: VG – Lavish
