Finch Fetti’s 4 recently discovered artists: Monét, YS Tekdinner, Dochi & Alex Loveless (Wk18)

UK producer and A&R Finch Fetti lists 4 recently discovered artists whom he’d like to hear more from. This week the spotlight is on:

Monét, YS Tekdinner, Dochi & Alex Loveless

 [1] Monét (UK) www.instagram.com/monetmia

Ideal for Fans of: Syd & IAMDDB

Description: Monét is an act that blurs the lines between rapping and singing as her style has a melodic word spoken vibe to it. Her track ‘Just One of Days’ embodies the jazzy, chilled and 90’s  vibe her music usually has and gives elements of a spiritual and atmospheric mood.

Monét’s voice is soft as she maintains her vocals with a smooth and relaxing speaking like singing tone. This is definitely one of those songs that would connect very well with the 4/20 community and provides a great soundtrack for those hazy, trippy and laidback early mornings and late evenings.

Favourite Release: Monét – Just One of Those Days

[2] YS Tekdinner (UK) www.instagram.com/ystekdinner

Ideal for Fans of: Skepta & Sam Wise

Description: YS Tekdinner is a name I’ve seen around the upcoming alternative London rap scene and seems to be a well-recognised artist within that space. His sound is like the perfect mesh of the aggressive grime delivery/tone and the modern trap production.

His track ‘Deluxury’ is a stand out favourite for me as it has this eerie and menacing vibe to it. The production has a deranged and dark feel to it, which combined with YS Tekdinner’s intense and brash rapping style creates a sort of underground anthem you could see working well in a live performance.

[3] Dochi (UK) www.instagram.com/dochid0

Ideal for Fans of: Mike Skinner & Novelist

Description: Dochi is a UK rapper that has a very old school and early UK rap energy to his music. He also adopts a few modern elements but you can clearly hear a lot of his influences are from classic UK rappers and Grime artists. His song ‘Fix Up’ sounds like something made in the late 90’s and early 2000’s of the UK garage era but sprinkled with a modern and current approach.

Dochi is laid back in his delivery and maintains his monotone cadence to compliment and flow over the spacey and jazzy sounding UK garage/dub instrumental, which sounds like something Benga or Skream would have produced. Dochi’s flow is very spacey and comes off spoken ish as he lets off introspective wordplay with a smooth and mellow delivery.

Favourite Release: Dochi – Fix Up

Latest Release: Dochi – Grazed

[4] Alex Loveless (UK) www.instagram.com/alexloveless69

Ideal for Fans of: Dominic Fike & Bakar

Description: Alex Loveless’s song ‘If She Knew’ is something I came across on a Spotify playlist and the style on this track is very chill and bedroom pop-esque. The track ‘If She Knew’ is a smooth and laid back vibe that blends jazzy guitar chords and cool boom bap drums with some trippy elements.

The vocal tones are smooth and easy going as Alex sings softly with some obscure vocal manipulation sprinkled throughout the track. This is definitely one of those songs that would do well on those Sunday chill or Lo-Fi playlists as it is subtle and would add to an already relaxed atmosphere.

Favourite Release: Alex Loveless – If She Knew
