Dave beats Sam Smith and Calvin Harris to first place spot on UK Official Charts

It’s been a very big week for Dave and for all of UK music’s aspiring artists to be honest. As you may have heard or seen earlier in the week, Dave’s latest release ft. Fredo “Funky Friday” has been locked in a close battle for first place in the Official UK charts with Sam Smith and Calvin Harris’ “Promises”.

We can now confirm that within its first week of being released, Funky Friday has reached number 1 in the Official UK charts (which of course makes it number 1 in The Official Charts by SpotlightFirst as well!)

For Dave to release a song and, within a week, have it challenge for (and win!) first place against someone like Calvin Harris, who has been releasing hit after hit in the charts for over a decade, is a massive achievement and is very promising for the future of UK music.

Elsewhere in the Official Charts by SpotlightFirst, “Ay Caramba” by Lizzy, Fredo, Young T and Bugsey swaps places with B Youngs “079ME”. Unknown T slowly continues his rise up the charts and Asap Rocky x Skepta’s “Praise the Lord” finally loses it’s top 10 spot after an 8 week run.
