Off the back of Drake and Giggs‘ recent collaboration and still feeling extremely optimistic about the new year, we decided to compile a list of 5 fire collaborations we would love to see happen in 2017.
Stefflon Don has been killing it recently. Often compared to the likes of Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, we feel a Drake collaboration would be rather fitting. Since Drake loves collaborating with UK artists (See: Skepta, Giggs and Dave) we wouldn’t be surprised at all if a song featuring the two arises sometime this year.
Kojo Funds and J Hus
If there was an award for most unlikely pairing it would be these two. It’s hard to imagine the two even being civil in the same building let alone studio, however there is no denying that these are two extremely talented individuals pushing the boundaries of Afro-infused rap whilst creating numerous bangers along the way. A duet would be magical, if not mythical.
Knucks and VB
Both these artist caught and kept our attentions in 2016. Knucks delivered with singles and freestyles such as ‘21 Candles’ and ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s‘ and VB with the excellent ‘Pour Some More’ mixtape. Set to continue their wave in 2017 it would be a pleasure to our ears if their paths were to meet inside a booth.
Little Simz and Rapsody
Rapsody is a well known and highly respected beast on beats with a consistent output of high quality songs and projects. She has stood strong on tracks amongst the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Chance The Rapper, Mac Miller and Ab Soul. It would be very natural hearing her on the same track as Lil Simz who has had a similar output of quality music and has too held her own amongst the likes of Mick Jenkins and UK male heavy weights like Ghetts and Chip.
Sona and Mr Eazi
Sona first came to prominence with hits like ‘Ijo Sona‘ and ‘No Wahala‘ and has continued to light his flame in 2017 with the banger of a collaboration ‘Hurt Nobody‘ featuring Sneakbo. Starboy signee, Mr Eazi is another big artist who has been credited by some for taking the Ghanaian and Nigerian Afrobeats scene to another level. Ever since the release of his hit single ‘Skin Tight‘ back in January 2016, it’s been one banger after another. We think it’s time for your boys‘ Sona and Mr Eazi to finally bring their unique sounds together and once again take the Afrobeats scene by storm.
